Winter Activities

The Hahn’s Peak Roadhouse is perfectly located for a variety of outdoor mountain activities. Winter activities include Snowmobiling, Horseback Rides, Sleigh Rides, and Ice Fishing. Courtesy transportation from Steamboat Springs is available for all Hahn’s Peak Roadhouse activity reservations with convenient pick-up and drop-off at the Gondola Transit Center.

Park & Ride

Have your own sled? Park and ride snowmobile access to Steamboat Lake and the Routt National Forest is just outside our door!

  •  All Park & Ride guests must check-in at the front desk

  •  Observe all signs, such as access routes and speed limits

  •  No snowmobiles in Hahn’s Peak Village

  •   Use only designated routes for State Park or National Forest access (Qualey Trail)

  •  Respect private property and other people! Snowmobiling in North Routt is a privilege we would like to continue sharing

Snowmobile Rentals

The Hahn’s Peak Roadhouse is proud to offer full-day sled rentals & Tours for carving up the powder! Explore the endless snowmobile trails and back-country terrain of North Routt County with our fleet of 550cc, 600cc, 800cc, and 850cc  sleds.

  • All rentals require a credit card pre-authorization for damage deposit before the machine can go out. 
  • Damage deposits are refundable, as long as machine returns in the condition that it started.
  •  Must be 21 and with a valid driver’s license to rent a sled.
  •  No discounts are given for bringing a sled back early.
  •  Renter is responsible for filling sled with premium gas on-site upon return.

Steamboat Lake & National Forest Guided Tours

The Hahn’s Peak Roadhouse offers scenic,  1.5 hour guided snowmobile tours around Steamboat Lake, recommended for guests with little to no snowmobile experience. We also offer a 2 & 4-hour tour throughout Routt County National Forest
Tours depart at 9:00am, 11:30am, and 3:00pm. 4 Hour Tours are 9 AM ONLY! 

Must be 16+ with a valid driver's license to drive a snowmobile.
Reservations are recommended.

Winter Horseback Rides

An approximately 45-minute open sleigh ride, with either hot cocoa or assorted soups & chili to choose from.
Rates do not include alcohol or tip.  Children 2 years of age and under ride for free! Dress warm!

Rides depart at 12, 3, 5 & 7pm.

Ice Fishing

All ages welcome! Icefish on Steamboat Lake. We have all the gear you will need! Includes sack lunch and fun!
If you don’t have a fishing license, we can stop by the Visitor’s Center and get one for the day.
Bring your driver’s license and warm clothes!

Snowmobiles
  • Must be 21 years of age to rent

  • Must be 16 years of age to drive on tour

  • Must be 18 years of age to have a passenger on tour

  • Must be 5 years of age to ride as a passenger

  • You are 100% responsible for any damages to your sled or damages you cause to other sleds.

  • Helmets are provided and required

  • Snow bibs and boots are available – please call for sizes

  • Respect private property and other people

  • Only 550 and 600 snowmobiles are used for guided tours (550 to 600 is a $55 upgrade fee)

  • Please dress appropriately. Gloves, goggles, ski pants, boots, and a jacket are recommended 

  • Prices do not include alcohol or gratuity. If you like your ride, please tip your guide! 

  • Reservations are strongly recommended

  • All prices subject to change
     

Horses
  • Must be 6 years of age to ride a horse – no exceptions

  • Helmets are available

  • Please dress appropriately. Gloves, goggles, ski pants, boots, and a jacket are recommended 

  • Prices do not include alcohol or gratuity. If you like your ride, please tip your guide! 

  • Reservations are strongly recommended

  • All prices subject to change
     

Shuttle
  • A complimentary shuttle is included for all activities, depending on availability

  • Please request shuttle at the time of reservation
     

Reservations/Cancellations
  • Cancellation must be made prior to 48 hours before the time of activity for a full refund of deposit

  • 50% activity  charge for cancellations made under 48 hours

  • No-shows will be charged in full
